Euroflex Transmissions Ltd are specialists in the design and manufacture of High Performance Couplings. This style of non lubricated flexible coupling is popular for use on all types of rotating equipment including Gas & Steam Turbines, Compressors, Pumps, Marine Propulsion, Tests Beds, etc. The disc coupling is an all metallic coupling that is basically torsionally stiff and suitable for high torque and high speed operation.
In addition to the Flexible high performance couplings business Euroflex Transmissions offer machining capabilities for Rotor & Stator Blades for Gas & Steam Turbines and also have the capability & experience in machining of complete Steam Turbine Rotors. Manufacture of all disc couplings, blades and rotors is performed at our state of the art, fully ISO 9000-2000 Certified, facility in Hyderabad, India.
The Euroflex Disc high performance couplings are torsionally rigid with zero backlash. Torque is transmitted in tension through the spans of the flexing discs. In the adjacent figure holes B, D & F are assumed connected to the 'driving section' and A, C & E to the 'driven section' of the coupling. As the driving machine rotates the attachment at B will 'pull' the attachment at A round introducing a tensile stress in the 'span' between the two. The same will happen with D & F 'pulling' C & E respectively
Euroflex give considerable consideration to the bolting when designing the couplings to ensure high performance. The intent of the design is to ensure that under all continuous operating conditions the anchoring of the flexing discs to their respective flanges is sufficiently rigid so as to avoid any slip. Slip during operation can lead to micro-movement of the adjacent components and result in fretting. Correct bolt sizing, material selection and pre-load ensures that no slip can occur and fretting avoided.
